The Grave Allegations

A senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
