Glenn shared that Boyd, currently in the hospital, was “positive” during their latest talk. “What reassures me, is that his mood is upbeat,” Glenn commented. “His wife and his kid, they’re in good spirits and he will walk away from this just fine.” Glenn was unsure when Boyd might be released the medical facility, where he has been listed as in critical but steady condition. “Not certain at the moment,” Glenn remarked. “Yet I must mention, from our conversation, he felt really upbeat. Once more, that puts my mind at ease, given his positive frame of mind and his words reflect that optimism.” New York police issued video stills earlier this week of a man sought in the incident involving Boyd. A motive for the shooting remains under investigation and authorities said it remains uncertain if Boyd was the intended victim. No one else was hurt as confirmed by officials. The attack took place around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning near the famous arena and the bustling tourist spot. Boyd, in his late twenties, was admitted to Bellevue Hospital after sustaining an abdominal gunshot wound, police said. The assailant escaped. Glenn shared Boyd has been in his thoughts “a ton” since the news broke. He further stated that Boyd and his spouse recently welcomed a child. “What immediately crossed my mind, he just had a kid,” Glenn remarked. “I thought of his spouse, I’m thinking about his kid and I want to make sure that he’s OK. That was my main concern. “There’s a process to this, that I won’t detail, but I’m happy at the fact that he’s going to come out of this thing really, really well.” Boyd hasn’t played in the present campaign, after joining the team, after going on the season-ending injured reserve list on mid-August with an injury to his shoulder that involved surgical repair. He joined the Jets as a new signing in spring and was projected as a significant contributor of the team’s updated special teams under Glenn and special teams coordinator Chris Banjo. However, he got hurt during preseason drills on early August and had to be helped off. Boyd continued to be present during the entire campaign while recovering from the shoulder injury. “He’s been a part of what we’re doing,” Glenn stated. “Certainly, he is a regular at our matches. He is completely involved. Given his status as a special teams standout, he has excelled at supporting his teammates.” Boyd, hailing from the Lone Star State, spent his initial four years with the Vikings after getting drafted in the seventh round by the Vikings out of UT in the 2019 draft. He joined the Arizona Cardinals in last year and later was with the Texans after that. Boyd inked a single-season agreement valued at $1.6 million with New York in the spring.
