That Gruesome Animated Film Conclusion That Stays With Viewers

Among every mature animated films I have personally viewed, no other has stuck with me quite like the terror-laced ending of a explicitly bloody and overwhelingly transgressive film from 2022 The Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, the Spanish filmmaker developed a grim, bleak and often savage world that included a few small , desolate hints of optimism.

While Unicorn Wars seems like it originated from a desire to advance animation further, the director stated that it was actually an effort to convey a universal, multicultural theme about “the mutual source of all wars.”

This theme is communicated via a band of brightly hued teddy bears , obviously based on a popular line of lovable figures.

Being raised in a culture focused on warmongering as well as the war machine, many of these animals are consumed by killing unicorns, thanks to a religious scripture that claims them they previously were masters of the woods, before these creatures drove them out.

Some haven’t fully bought into the brainwashing, and would rather sample narcotics or mate in the forest.

In contrast to their cuddly counterparts, these bright beings have visible genitals and obvious libidos.

For one particularly cruel, cynical bear, Bluey, the battle against the unicorns transforms into a road toward dominance — and especially to authority above his gentler, nicer brother the character Tubby.

The character behaves aggressively , an apparent psychopath , and as terror dominates his unit and takes his teammates one by one, he takes increasingly influence on his own behalf, in increasingly bloody, harmful methods.

Simultaneously, these mythical beings are enduring their own nightmare, through a growing, harmful creature in their woods.

“At the beginning, it feels like a lighthearted film,” the director said. “But then it turns into a more serious and sorrowful film. And in the finale, it becomes a scary feature.”

The Unicorn Wars begins feeling a bit like one of the most playful films from a renowned animator, that discover a naughty glee in letting drawn beings swear, engage in violence, or have intimate relations.

Afterward it becomes something more like a more grim movie by that same artist, featuring progressively graphic violence and a tangible connection to genuine suffering of war.

By the end, it is an outright Grand Guignol massacre.

The terror that turns the film a Halloween-friendly viewing begins well before than one might expect.

The Unicorn Wars is one for the devoted fans of gore, for lovers of intense movies who want to view something they’ve never watched previously, and can endure a story which delivers absolutely no punches.

See it with the lights off without any distractions, and the finale will crawl under your skin and take up residence there.
