The visionary game developer, the mind behind the globally famous franchise Call of Duty, has died in a traffic collision in the state of California he was 55 years old.

The tragic news was announced by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The influential industry figure died after his vehicle was involved in a crash and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in Los Angeles on Sunday, US media outlets report.

"We are facing a devastating loss, and we stand with Vince's family, those closest to him, and everyone impacted by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts commented.
