The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership was established to develop a TTRPG set within the series' post-pandemic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, offering fans a new way to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," reads an official release.

Initial offerings will include a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a GM screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.

Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was released in New York City, sending the United States into turmoil. As the crisis escalates, society crumbles and hostile groups rise, transforming the city into a battlefield. To preserve order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. This is where the agents enter the story.

Development on the RPG has been underway for approximately three years, and it is reportedly finished. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a preorder system to reach a wider market, particularly in the United States. Production is slated to begin right after the fundraiser, with shipping expected for the latter part of 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system confirms it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and strategic style. Agents use skills or traits to roll small dice pools, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of adding results together, players choose a single “resolution die” from the group.
  • This dice is then measured against a target difficulty.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.

Engagements Emphasize Tactical Placement and Situational Insight

Battles prioritize positioning and environmental awareness, mirroring the video games. Elements like taking cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence success chances. This system is designed to reward teamwork and smart positioning instead of simple statistics.

A Novel Health System

The way health is tracked adds a compelling thematic twist. Operatives have a injury limit; sustaining too much damage reduces their effectiveness by lowering the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an operative is downed, but is not knocked out.
  2. They may still crawl and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A free Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It includes a ready-to-play introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players lead the search for a missing medical team and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the complete product lineup are expected to be unveiled near the Kickstarter start date.
